“More affordable model” Tesla shown in spy shots on Chinese social media

The long -term “more affordable” Tesla model was spy on the Chinese social media and it is disappointing about what we expected: a slightly decontated version of the Y.

For many years, Tesla has planned to build a much more affordable vehicle and from around $ 25,000. This vehicle was nicknamed “Model 2” and always offers the most affordable entry point to the EV market, at least in the west.

So we get confirmation that the news does not come new models – but it seems that something cheap descends on the tube. And now, from Chinese photos on the social media of these “first sets”, we know what kind of deconting Tesla will make to get cost savings.

Two videos we posted this weekend on Bilibili and Weibo. The first was the outer video from the “极客小猪” account (the machine translated as “geek seglet”). If you want to see the whole thing, you will have to click through.

It shows the new Y model as similar to the renewed Juniper model, which is parked next to, although the front and rear are covered with camouflage and is difficult to say it with a view of the camera.

As best we can say subtitles (which is not very good), the account seems to think that it could be the upcoming larger model YL, and the camera’s perspective in the above screenshot makes the car in the foreground to be slightly long. But other perspectives show that they look similar to length, and when we see different missing parts later in the video, we think it is probably a “more affordable” model.

There are several holes in the camouflage that indicate what could vary as if the rear light bar from the juniper could be cut off from the entire rear of the car. The new is also missing the “tesla” logo over the back, as it can be in a small window showing the rear camera.

The video looks at the inside of the vehicle where the seats are covered. I originally suspected that the vehicle could have fabric seats, but it seems that the cover fell in the back and something is manifested by leather love, so Tesla can still use its fake leather product to cover the seats.

It also shows that the center console is cut off between the arm and the screen, using less material and giving open space. This is somewhat similar to the original S -design design, which had a lot of space in front of the central console. We cannot find out from the video if 2 phone charging mats are still present or not – it looks like a space that would normally go through is there, but the pattern looks different than the current NFC phone.

For another view of the interior, we saw several other photos from another Chinese social media account, 42 号车库 or “garage No. 42” on Weibo. These show the steering wheel, front seats, rear and roof a little clearer. It seems to be the same car, due to the condition of the seat at the rear.

There will be other changes: there is no panoramic glass roof on the vehicle and the rear screen that has been added in the recovery of juniper is eliminated again. The stem of the direction signal, which was excluded in the 3 Highland Refresh and the return of the residual way in the recovery of the juniper, is still (fortunately) still there.

The balance of these changes suggests that many of them are just a return of content that has been added to the renewal of juniper. But this only shows us some changes in the interior and external changes – the model can have other changes. Although it is nice to see the potential low price, all of this is compared to news Model 2 more affordable model we could have.
