EV and Power China’s 20b $ Pure Technological Surge
China has set a new record for the export of net technologies in August 2025 and, according to the new data analyzed by EMBER China CLEANTECH EXPORTS Data Explorer, was $ 20 billion. The country remains a large exporter of electrical engineering in the world, with a steep stripe to EV and batteries leading charging.
EV export jumped 26% from January to August compared to the same period in 2024, while the export of the battery increased by 23%. Other sectors have seen more modest growth – grid technology increased by 22%, ended 16% and heating and cooling systems by 4% – but these profits were compensated by 19% decrease in the export value of the solar PV. EV and batteries now have more than double the value of Chinese solar exports.
This milestone is remarkable because they are technological prices that have sharply. For example, the princes of solar panels have rushed by more than 80%over the last decade, making them more accessible and increasing global demand. In August, China only exported 46 gigawatts (GW) solar PV – more than the entire Australian installed solar capacity – set a record in capacity. However, their dollar value remains 47% below their peak March 2023.
Declining prices have caused growth in new regions. More than half of the increase in the export of Chinese EV this year came out of OECD, with the ASEAN region appeared as the main growth engine. EV exports to ASEAN in the first eight months of 2025 increased by 75%, especially driven indonesia. This year, the country recorded the largest increase in Chinese EV imports and became the world ninth market ev. In August 2025, electric battery vehicles were 14% of the new car in Indonesia, 9% earlier.
Africa also quickly receives Chinese pure technology. From January to August, EV exports to the continent almost tripled (+287%), although from a very low base, with Moroccan growth and important nigeria is six times rising. Latin America and the Caribbean recorded an 11% increase, while the Middle East climbed by 72%.
On the domestic market, the Chinese own acceptance of net technology accelerates even faster. In August, the EVS represents 52% of new cars sales and in the first half of 2025 China installed more than twice as many solar panels as the rest of the world together.
