Get rid of dieselgate cars, say organizations – Cleantechnica

Do you remember the days when the most shocking and corrupt thing was a large car manufacturer cheating on emissions in the vehicle? These were days…. This means that the “dieselgate” scandal was a huge shop. Millions of cars we released on the road with false claims about how much pollution they radiated. We are now doing this scandal on the 10 -year anniversary. Unfortunately, we still pay the consequences, not only with persistent CO2 emissions and global heating.
Many of these cars are still on the road. Several organizations are now promoting a government leader in Europe to do something to get rid of these dieselgate cars.
“T&E and Coalition of Organizations Are Urgent European Lawmakers to use the ‘roadworthiness package’ to the Legacy of Dieselgate and removy Millions of Suspiciously High-Emping Cars from the Roads. Based on real-world emissions, Yearly Technical Inspections for Ver 10 Years Old, and Mandate Fixes or Scrapping of High-Emping Cars at the Expense manufacturer.
Frankly, it is a bit wild that ten years ago, these cars were not delayed. “These cars have polished up to 10 times above the legal limits, annoy the air we breathe, and harm citizens’ health,” the letter says. “Ten years later, justice is still missing. While the US forced VW to buy a vehicle or repaired them in addition to Imposer Fine, up to 19.1 million vehicles on European roads will probably have defeat equipment.”
It deteriorates. “The nail polish is: 40% of premature diesel deaths will come (124,000 already lost, 81,000 still projected), which contributes to 70,000 premature deaths caused by air pollution for road transport every year.” Seriously, just pull these extraordinary cars out of the way.
Finally, it is important and great to see how these organizations give European legislators to only clean European streets and sky, and at the same time throw their polluting garbage to others. Many old vehicles are supplied from Europe to less rich areas of the world and presents poor people in other countries that are building with these vehicles. Organizations demand that Europe do not go this way with these dieselgate cars.
“Europe must stop exporting highly pollutants and dangerous used vehicles. Between 2015 and 2022, more than 6 million used vehicles were sent to the EU, mostly to African countries and adding old, dirty and non -automatic cars into their aiming,” says the letter. “Ensuring exports of only minimum marginal and safety standards of vehicles is necessary to reduce climate growth and air pollution and reduce road deaths and serious injuries.”
Really. The good news is that the country in Africa, Asia and elsewhere that has growing access to cheap electric cars from China, and some of these countries decide to speed up the transition from the polluting vehicle from fossil fuels and Leapfrog into the future of electric transport. (I look at you, Ethiopia – but hopefully more countries soon.)
Will European legislators consult T&E, UNP, ETSC, CMC and OPUS CSR? Well, one can dream.
